A good quality probiotic helps too. And it’s not just for your gut , no not yogurt but a good probiotic, there are even vaginal probiotics now too. UTIs often affect the brain as we age and we do and can be our best drs sometimes.
My business partner, Dr. Meghan Blake, and I started Good Kitty Co. because we’d both suffered recurrent UTIs for years, and the only solution anyone offered us was antibiotic prophylaxis.
Dr. Blake is a Stanford-trained physician. We formulated our patent-pending UTI Biome Shield with Dr. Sharon Knight, a urogynecologist who specializes in female pelvic surgery.
Recurrent UTIs need multi-mechanism prevention, not a single ingredient. Bacterial resistance is on the rise, and antibiotics wipe out your microbiome, which we’re only now beginning to understand as foundational to immunity, inflammation, and the body’s own defenses.
My client who has a kidney transplant suffers from her medication that keeps her alive and it’s weeks sometimes before she is informed of a uti , this will help so many !! Thank you for sharing!!!!
I have been taking anti biotics (Macrobid) daily for at least 6 years now. If I don't I get lots of UTS's and they are full-time painful. I'm 80 and don't have sexual partner-haven't for about a quarter of a century--which is fine by me. Not all that interested and can take care of herself. (Wouldn't mind more hugs....) My doctors don't want to give it to me, but I have been able to convince them for all these years. they are of course afraid of bacteria becoming immune to anti-biotics so they grow bigger and stronger. Which I certainly don't want either, but I literally can not stand the pain of a UTI. (And yes, I got up to urinate every single time. If I tried to turn over and just go to sleep, I would be sorry in the morning. So, what is the story about vaginal estrogen? Not one soul has suggested that or even said it out loud in my hearing! Does that really work? I guess if it only works 60% I may still keep taking the Macrobid, cuz really the pain is excruciating.
It never ceases to disappoint me how lacking society still is for women. 😓
It's only been so for 5000-10000 years though. So all we have to do is tap into that ancestral Mother-knowledge and we'll be good!
